Undergraduates

BSc (Honours) Degree Programmes

BSc (Hons) in Physics / Applied Physics

Students in the Physics programme learn a broad variety of topics ranging from electromagnetism to quantum mechanics, with theoretical, experimental, and computational coursework. Students in the Applied Physics programme start with fundamental courses in physics, and continue into applied topics such as spintronics, nanotechnology, and laser physics.

BSc (Hons) in Applied Physics with
Second Major in Microelectronics Engineering

This selective Second Major programme is run in conjunction with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Students receive a rigorous training in physics, and then focus on applications in modern microelectronic devices.

BSc (Hons) in Physics and Mathematical Sciences (Double Major)

This Double Major programme is run jointly with the Division of Mathematical Sciences. Students learn how to explore the intersections of physics and mathematics, including topics such as differential geometry and general relativity, topology and condensed matter physics, and quantum field theory. The programme provides the skills needed to perform fundamental investigations of the natural world, as well as computational and problem-solving skills.

BSc (Hons) in Physics with Second Major in Mathematics

This Second Major programme provides a deep and rigorous education in the closely-allied fields of physics and mathematics. As of 2020, this has been replaced by the BSc (Hons) in Physics and Mathematical Sciences (Double Major) programme, and is no longer offered.
