The SPMS Co-Operative Education Programme is a SkillsFuture Work-Study Degree programme that places students in leading companies during their undergraduate studies. Participating students undergo a sequence of credit-earning structured work experiences, learning how to put their academic knowledge to use at the workplace.
Benefits
Practical Training — The job training programmes are designed jointly by the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) and the participating companies, to supplement academic knowledge with practical examples.
Mentoring by Professors — Each participant receives personal mentorship and guidance from a professor at SPMS.

How to Apply
Applicants must apply to an SPMS degree programme before applying to the SPMS-CEP. The application period for Academic Year 20/21 is mid-Jan to early Feb 2021.

Details
Each students in the SPMS-CEP works in a chosen company for a total of 50 work weeks, spread over three work terms:
- Work Term 1: End of first year, 10 weeks, mid-May to late-Jul
- Work Term 2: End of second year, 10 weeks, mid-May to late-Jul
- Work Term 3: Between third and fourth year, 30 weeks, (early-Jan to late-Jul) OR (mid-May to early-Dec)
During the final 30-week work term, students may choose to undertake a final year project with the company. This project contributes to the graduation requirements of the NTU degree programme.

Programme Criteria
Students may enter the SPMS-CEP either at the point of admissions to their major programme, or after the first semester of studies. To be admitted to the SPMS-CEP, students must successfully secure an internship placement with a participating industrial partner (the SPMS-CEP will facilitate this placement).
For students majoring in Mathematical Sciences, the SPMS-CEP is considered a distinct programme track. Any students who later decide to opt out of the SPMS-CEP must convert to a standard track, and comply with the respective AU requirements.

Attachment/Internship Modules
Students in the SPMS-CEP are required to complete three Professional Attachments/Internships, during the following periods:
- Year 1 Special Semesters I & II (10 weeks),
- Year 2 Special Semesters I & II (10 weeks), and
- Year 3 Semester 2 + Special Semesters I & II (30 weeks)
OR Year 3 Special Semesters I & II + Year 4 Semester 1 (30 weeks).
