Safety at SPMS

Safety is an integral part of life and work at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS). We have a deep and abiding commitment to ensuring that all research and educational activities are performed in a safe and proper way, as well as being well-prepared for any emergency that may arise. All staff, students, visitors and contractors in SPMS are strictly required to comply with the safety policies set by the University's Office of Health, Safety and Emergency (OHSE).

Please consult the links in this part of the website for important safety information, including the SPMS Laboratory Safety Manual, incident reporting procedures, and risk assessment procedures. We are grateful to everyone for contributing to a safe, secure, and productive working and learning environment at SPMS.

For all enquiries about safety-related issues, please contact any member of the Safety, IT, and Facilities team, and we will attend to you promptly.

Having regular safety communications not only increases our safety awareness, it further helps to sustain learnt knowledge and reinforce good safety practices. As part of continued improvement to our safety culture, SPMS has put in place the “Safety Moment” regime to facilitate our community to practise and deepen our communications on safety and health matters.
